Our greatest goal must be to develop free human beings, capable, by themselves, of impressing purposes and direction on their lives.” – Rudolf Steiner

This was the phrase I chose as the opening of my site. When the designer read, he told me, “I think this is going to be very bad for your business. So what people are going to need you for?”

Every good holistic therapist will tell you that you already have everything you need within you. That you are a divine creature and, as such, you have the power to heal and co-create your reality. Yes, that is the truth: in a perfect world, no one would need therapy – neither you nor me.

It happens that in real life we end up forgetting about our personal power, our divine capacity. The basic needs for food and shelter must be met, and this distracts us. Sometimes we forget that the challenges placed on our path are for our own evolution, and that to eliminate them we need to understand why they are there, and work to clear them.

The role of the therapist should be to remind you of all this. Sometimes hearing this once is enough. Sometimes you need to listen once a week. Sometimes the therapist will say, and you will not listen, simply because your physical, emotional and spiritual bodies are not in harmony. And then the role of the therapist will be to work to promote that balance, through the tool that is most appropriate for your case.

At some point in our lives we cease to “feed” ourselves soulfully and spiritually, and we become weakened. At such times it is difficult to heal ourselves; we need someone to give us the necessary vitamins until we feel stronger to walk again.

Another reason is that as we evolve into new stages of consciousness, we may need help to unlock an undeveloped ability to learn how to deal with our relationships in a way that mirrors this new level. At this evolutionary level, it is not always clear what is expected from us, and what is possible. Therapy can make this clearer.

Rick Jarow says that if someone is a therapist in order to “help” others, then he or she will always need others to be bad so that they can feel good.

In fact, the good therapist is one who recognizes your power, and reminds you of it at all times. He is the one whose greatest goal is that you be his partner in the evolutionary journey of life, and that you know that for this you need to be whole and balanced, making use of your divinity and not just being aware of it.
